Psi Alpha Alpha 40th Chapter Anniversary on Dec 26, 2020, we celebrated our “Road to 40” with a virtual culminating activity. Attended by a host of former Grand and District Officers, the event paid homage to the legacy of the thirteen visionary men that paved the way for a chapter servicing the citizens of Fairfax County. The event including reflections from many of the chapter founders with a special reflection from our now deceased founder and District Chaplain Emeritus, Bro. Willard O. Jasper. Interviewed by Basileus Willie J. Williams, Jr, Former Chapter Basilei, Former DR Kenneth Brown, and “Sons” of PsiAA all chimed in on their role in the success and evolution of PsiAA and why we continue to serve dutifully.
PsiAA supported a joint effort of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church to provide food for those facing food insufficiency during this Christmas season. 200 Christmas boxes were packed and distributed containing chickens, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and a $25 Giant Food gift card. Families were able to drive up and receive their distributions in a contactless manner.
We again committed to our annual uplifting of two important communities in Fairfax County – Gum Springs Community Center and the Chapel at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. For well over 25 years, PsiAA has provided Christmas baskets in the form of gift cards to senior citizens selected by the South County Program Director, Neighborhood and Community Services, and Fort Belvoir families selected by the Chaplaincy. This year’s project involved providing $240 in gift cards to Gum Springs Community Center and $300 in commissary gift cards to the Fort Belvoir Chapel – for a total donation of $540.
