Reading for Success Concludes Year One

Reading and interacting with 3rd grade students from Riverside Elementary School is a joy each time the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha enter onto the school campus. On June 5, 2015, the chapter concluded its first year implementation of Reading for Success, a program designed to assist in the increase of standardized test scores in reading. Brothers read the Patchwork Quilt, authored by Valerie Flournoy and distributed copies of the book to each 3rd grade student. At the conclusion of the reading session, Brothers shared quilts passed down by their family members with Riverside students. Many were amazed as they viewed and physically touched the handcrafted materials that went into the production of the quilt. Both Psi Alpha Alpha and the Bernie L. Bates Foundation, Inc., looks forward to year two implementation with the students of Riverside Elementary School.
