On Saturday, June 17, 2023, the Brothers of the Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, Third District of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., conducted their annual Community Health Fair. This year they continued their partnership with the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc-Omicron Theta Zeta chapter. The event was held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Alexandria, VA. Health Initiatives were the primary areas of focus for both. The Health Fair was designed to provide healthy living and nutrition ideas to our communities by facilitating and coordinating activities that inform and promote good health practices.
The Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc-Omicron Theta Zeta chapter, and Gum Springs Community Center coordinated this event to provide relevant healthy information, nutrition, and more beneficial activities and exercise. The service organizations did an outstanding job at providing our community residents, families, and friends with valuable information they can use to empower themselves and become more knowledgeable regarding achieving and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Some of these Health services providers were but were not limited to Diabetes Association, COVID-19 (awareness and Vaccinations), overall health awareness presentation, nutrition (cooking demos), Fairfax County Health Department, Double Dutch, and much more. There were a few residents who received the COVID vaccination. There were approximately 200 plus participants and volunteers who attended the events.
All had a great experience. Both chapters pray that everyone found this event uplifting and beneficial in improving everyone’s fitness goals, knowledge, and health.
