PsiAA Attend Third District Virtual Fall Council 2020

On September 25-26, 2020, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, Third District Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc attended the District's Fall Council meeting. The meeting was held virtually as we are still under the COVID-19 and social distancing environment. On Friday, September 25, 2020, brothers attended the virtual fellowship. The DJ spun the 1's and 2's as the Brothers enjoyed the music from old the new school mix. There were about 100 brothers on the Friday night virtual social. As the sun rose on Saturday, Brothers began to join the meeting. The meeting was well attended as there were approximately 355 Brothers on the Zoom meeting. Brother Conrado B. Morgan, 30th Third District Representative opened the meeting at 8:30am and provided an Omega welcome to all. The 41st Grand Basileus Dr David Marion, provided an excellent summary of the current state and future initiatives of the organization. One of these initiatives is called Black men vote. The Divine Nine fraternities are planning to collaborate on getting an additional 1 million Black men to vote in this year's election. On October 14, 2020 there will be a Town Hall held by the Divine Nine and Derrick Johnson (NAACP President) to discuss getting out the black to vote. 1st Vice Grand Basileus Brother Ricky Lewis encouraged brothers to support the 1000 for 1000 to raise $1 million dollars to support HBCUs, as requested by the 41st Grand Basileus Brother Dr. David Marion. Brother John Howard, Executive Director presented a summary of the IHQ vision and a new initiative called “Be the Bridge” webinar which will focus on Reclamation and Retention. He also reminded the Brothers about the corporate website, SEC process discussion on October 14, 2020, and the Founder’s Day Program will be held virtually.

Brother DR Conrado B. Morgan delivered his report on the state of the District. A few accomplishments included the editing of the criteria for the Omicron Gamma Chapter Student Leaders Memorial Endowment Account Agreement with University of District of Columbia (UDC) on June 15, 2020 (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. donated $10,000); Assisted in raising $34,313 (#1 District in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.) and $123,000 for Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for St. Jude with the Social Action Committee on June 30, 2020, Retention-Chapters continue to retain 80% + of its current membership, and executed a District wide virtual MSP training session with 300 Brothers trained. It was motioned and approved for the Third District to donate $1,000. Other Executive Officer, Area Supervisors, and Committee Chairman reports were provided and received by the Brotherhood.

PsiAA Third District 2020 District Meeting

On May 23, 2020, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha (PsiAA) chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. attended the Third District meeting with tremendous support as demonstrated by 51 PsiAA Brothers in attendance. This year's event was to be hosted by the PsiAA chapter. However, due to the current environment related to COVID-19 and the stay at home order in Virginia the meeting was held virtually by the Third District and is known to the Brothers of PsiAA as the "The best planned District meeting that did not happened". The meeting was attended by an estimated 256 Brothers, inclusive of Grand Officers, IHQ staff, District Representatives, and District and Fraternity Brothers.

The event was conducted in a first-class manner. The 41st Grand Basileus Dr. David Marion provide a gracious and very detailed account of the current state of the fraternity. Several other Grand Officers provided greetings to the Brothers. From an IHQ perspective, Executive Director Kenneth Barnes provided details related to current status of the IHQ operations. Third District Representative Kevin Brown provided a detailed account of the District's state of affairs, followed by the remaining Executive Council members, Area Supervisors, and some committee chairman. The Third District Election Committee Chair (Bro. Larry Brown - Alpha Omega) collaborated with the District's Automation Chair (Bro. Cornelius Beidleman - Psi Alpha Alpha) to lead and conduct the First ever Third District virtual election in true Omega fashion. The election ran very smooth.

3rd District Winter Council 2020


Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter Brothers and the Third District Winter Council Meeting 2020

On February 7 - 8, 2020, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, Third District Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. attended the Third District winter council meeting in Petersburg, Virginia. There were over 220 Brothers in attendance. Friday night the Brothers gathered for an evening filled with fun, food, and fellowship. On Saturday the District Representative started the meeting promptly at 8:30am.

The District Representative along with the Third District Executive Council  provided their reports outlining the current status of the District for informational purpose to the Brothers. The area supervisors and committee chair followed with their reports. The Brothers took some time to break bread together for another moment of fellowship. Brother Elisha Howard, Second Vice District Representative, encouraged the Brother to collaborate more to solidify and reinforce the strengthen the bond between the Brothers (graduate and undergraduate) respectively. The meeting was a success.

PsiAA – International Undergraduate Summit 2020

During January 16 - 18, 2020, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter participate and attended the International Undergraduate Summit at the Little Rock Marriott in Little Rock, Arkansas. Some Brothers of PsiAA provided service by providing transportation for the Supreme Council. PsiAA Brother Rosier presented to the Supreme Council on Omega Charities. He also attended a board meeting of Friendship Foundation, in which he is the Vice President. On Thursday Jan 16th, the Second Vice Basileus led a reading session with Brothers at the elementary school for several grade school children. The event was a success as demonstrated by the staff expressing their appreciation for the Brother's service to the community.

The agenda was full of activities and educational session and opportunities for the undergraduates to obtain information regarding potential employment opportunities with reputable national and international organizations. Some of the training sessions included Scholarships, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), Fatherhood Initiatives, and a Q & A with the 41st Grand Basileus.

Finally, on Saturday Jan 18th, the day started with devotional service led by the Grand Chaplain. The Ronald E. McNair Luncheon was well attended. During the luncheon, there were a few awards presented. Additionally, the keynote speaker was Brother James W. Jordan, who delivered a powerful, inspirational, and uplifting message to the Brothers.
Another successful International Undergraduate Summit that was well attended by the undergraduates and other Omega Brothers. The undergraduates did an extremely great job with executing the event and ensuring the Brother received what they needed as well as giving back to and leaving an unforgettable stamp on the community.

PsiAA NYE 2019

On December 31, 2019, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, Third District Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosted their New Year's Eve "Purple Carpet" Masquerade Ball at the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks. It was a night of elegance as the men were dressed to impress in their Tuxedos and the ladies were simply gorgeous. All the guests entered the ball room via the PURPLE carpet. Once in the room, the guest was greeted by a fabulously decorated ball room. The meal consisted of surf and turf, veggies, and sides excellently prepared. The DJ was exceptional as he spun the 1's and 2's throughout the night ensuring the dance floor was always packed.

The Basileus, Eric W. Kelly, Sr. greeted the guests by sharing a few words. Afterwards, Bro. Willie J. "W.J." Williams, Jr., New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball Committee Chairman and Vice Basileus of Psi Alpha Alpha gave the orders of the day to those in attendance. There were a few vendors with various items for sale. Also, there was a photo booth allowing everyone to capture the event with unforgettable photos. Another event during the night was the 50/50 raffle where several of the guest participated in. The total of the raffle was $1,010 with the winner receiving $505.

There were over 220 people in attendance. A great time was had by all, as demonstrated by the various expressions from the guests stating what a great time they had. Additionally, there were numerous guests who expressed the desire to attend the event in 2020.

PsiAA 39th Anniversary Dec 26, 2019

On December 26, 2019, the Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha (PsiAA) Chapter, Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. celebrated our 39th Chapter anniversary at Brother Chisolm’s residence in Virginia. Brothers came together for an evening filled with enthusiasm, fellowship, and rejoicing to have been blessed with yet another tremendously successful year for the chapter. The chapter continues to maintain its duty to operate in true Omega spirit and excellence.  This is done both in honor of our illustrious fraternity and the 13 PsiAA chapter charter members who laid the groundwork as the chapter continues to provide service to the Fairfax County community. An acknowledgement highlighted when the chapter was honored with third place for Third District Large Chapter of the year award respectfully.

Basileus Eric Kelly and Vice Basileus W.J. Williams, Jr. offered Brothers a few inspirational words and thanks to all for coming out. On this occasion, Brothers in attendance were giving the opportunity to provide some history related to the chapter along with any other insights they might like to mention regarding their walk in Omega. Charter members Brothers Isiah E. Barnwell, M. Barnwell, and C. Brown expressed significant knowledge of the chapter’s history and vision of the charter members. Other Brothers Charles Latten, Charles Sias, Donald Glover, Jerry Hubbard, and Oscar Dailey answered the call and spoke as Brothers listened attentively. Some of the comments were memorialized on video by the Chapter Reporter (Calvin Beidleman). The purpose for creating the videos is to provide current and future Brothers the opportunity to become better acquainted with chapter and Omega history while also understanding the aspirations and vision of the thirteen founding members of PsiAA Charter members and others who have walked similar paths.

The celebration was well attended as Brothers found themselves in continuous fellowship and breaking bread. It was evident that Brothers remain grateful for another successful year filled with the continued development of lifelong friendships with other men of Omega. The PsiAA Brothers continue to stand upright, ready, and eagerly await 2020. The road to 40.
