Bro Clarence Bostic presented to 120 5th and 6th grade students about his path to a STEM career and provided a brief hands on NASA activity.
In the presentation he introduced NASA, what services the agency provides to the USA, and potential future STEM careers. In the course of the presentation he shared his academic and professional path from public schools in Wichita Kansas to the work he provides as a deputy program manager in the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters. Brothers Younger and Kermit Jones also attended and took pictures of the presentation.
The hand on activity was the 'Mars Helicopter' activity developed by the education department at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in support of the 2020 Mars Perseverance mission that included Ingenuity the first powered helicopter to be flown on another planet.
