2018 Keeper of the Community Award at a
Black History Month Celebration
Joint Base Myers- Henderson Hall, Fort Myer, VA, The Brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter, were surprised, honored, and humbled as one of the recipients of a 2018 Keeper of the Community Award on February 10, 2018.
The award honors individuals and organizations devoted to making a positive change within their community and improve the faith, health, education or quality of life of others.
The award was presented as a part of the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Gospel Service Black History Month Celebration, Fort Myer, Virginia. The two-hour celebration was held at the Memorial Chapel and presided by Chaplain (LTC) Sid A. Taylor, Sr., Gospel Service Pastor.
Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter was invited to submit a list of the community service programs we sponsored or supported. As it turns out, our submission indicated we are supporting twenty-seven community programs. Needless to say, we were selected as one of the five 2018 Keeper of the Community Awardees.
Present at the ceremony was the Third District Representative, Brother Kevin Brown; Psi Alpha Alpha’s Basileus, Brother Craig Spraggins; Brother Kenneth M. Younger, Psi Alpha Alpha’s Social Actions Coordinator; and several Chapter Brothers. The Chapter was presented with a 2018 Keeper of the Community Plaque to commemorate the event. Although not our goal to seek recognition as we “Uplift” others, it is nice to know that others appreciate our hard work in Fairfax County.
