Bro. Bell and Matthews successfully engaging the students

As the “Reading for Success” program enters its fifth year at Riverside Elementary School, the brothers of Psi Alpha Alpha Chapter (PsiAA), Third District, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., conducted their Second Read-Aloud session on January 16, 2019. The brothers, known affectionately as “The Sirs,” once again, supported six third-grade classes with a total of 223 students.  We chose “Buddy Ran Away” by Thea Feldman for the reading.  The book tells the story of a pet beagle named Buddy who ran away while the family was on a vacation in the mountains.  Buddy saw a rabbit, ran away, and was not able to return with the family.  After a few weeks, Buddy used his instincts and returned home on his own to a happy family.  Twelve chapter brothers supported this effort and made it a success.  With today’s book donation, the program has provided 3,598 age appropriate books to the third-grade students at Riverside Elementary School this school year.  We look forward to our third reading session on March 13, 2019.
